jason grew up in extreme poverty with his mother and father. after walid is jailed and his mother is hospitalised, jason is adopted by batman as his second robin. the stint is short lived, as jason does not want to play by the rules and punish villains with violence.
this catches the attention of joker, who kidnaps jason's mother to lure the boy to a warehouse outside of gotham. as batman races against time to save jason, it's too late; sheila is murdered, and jason is beaten fatally with a crowbar by the joker, and left to die in an explosion.
years later, the al-ghul's revives jason in the lazarus pit. jason's hatred is so intense, it cracks the pit in two before he escapes and returns to gotham.

  • portrayal is largely based on under the red hood, taking inspo from outlaw, death in the family, rebirth & gotham knights, where jason is exiled by batman from gotham after killing penguin.

ORIGINAL LORE,
the birth of freydís :   with fractured memories, freydís sveinsdótter grew up as the daughter of a fearsome viking warrior, svein. unbeknownst to her, she was not born of his blood but found at his doorstep. close to her father, she grew up with the art of the blade and trade alongside her best friend, ragna; the two swore to be sheild-maidens one day together. through her mortal life her largest struggle was the onset of hallucinations that were triggered via touch of certain objects or ice — revealing glimpses of her former life though she understood little.
her dreams with ragna were dashed when a raid went south; fatally wounded, she died buried in snow side by side with ragna, and ascended to valhalla in a gust of cold wind. the next she ever opened her eyes, she was amongst the order of valkyries with a touch as cold as ice. but ragna, her sworn half, was missing.
daín :   restless from waiting, freydís eventually abandons the order and plunges into the nine realms in search of her. evoking the wrath of hilda, a rival valkyrie, freydís dons the cover of a dwarf ( dáin ) through Þjaznaut, a ring given to them with andvari's favour. as his apprentice, they set out to explore and learn more about the worlds in search of their best friend, while evading the wrath of the valkyries.

  • for finding dáinsleif the sword, they are gifted the Þjaznaut, a ring by andvari. with it, freydís shapeshifts into a dwarf and goes by dáin.

  • skadi ( + dáin ) is agender. you may refer to them with any pronouns your muse perceives. skadi can choose to appear as a man or woman depending. this is rooted in myth, as there is mention of a male god named skaði too.

the lore of her default verse as a giant is based heavily on god of war's interpretation of it + hcs, and her story doesn't clash with canon. additionally her viking era verse is set in ac valhalla, and her time as a dwarf is original work.

the ruin of skadi :   in the events before god of war, skaði was a jötunn associated with winter, hunting, shadows, and ice. child of Þjazi, skadi was married to njörðr to broker peace between the vanir and jötunn but became unhappy with the marriage, eventually divorcing.
she was later courted by odin and the two were engaged. however, after skadi is tricked by him into accidentally killing her father, holding Þjazi as he died, skadi discovered the truth. she swore revenge and intended to join the valkyries to do so—but before she could, odin cursed the mountains to enclose her, and there she 'perished' with Þjazi. her absence sets the conditions for fimbulwinter to begin.
when Þjazi dies they are turned to stars, but upon their child's death relinquish their essence to allow her to be unknowingly reborn with split memories — one half becomes the mortal that will be freydís sveinsdottir, the other half is lost to the nine realms.

set before their death and revival as a valkyrie in valhalla: born carefree and careless, freydís is a secret demigod of unknown origin who resides in the viking village of avaldsnes in norway. child of a viking jarl named svein, freydís aspires to be a shield maiden alongside her best friend, ragna.

going by dáin, they are an apprentice to andvari in the craft of sorcery and runic magic. dáin frequently uses the bifrost stone to travel between realms and scavenge for valuable items, or battle creatures as a seasoned hunter. they can be called upon for aid, bartered for merchandise, or hired for quests. as of right now they are not aware they are skadi, and fear for the soul of their best friend, ragna, who never reappeared in valhalla.

after discovering ragna had surrendered her soul to revive skadi, she is devastated . dáin's fractured memories of what led to her death are recovered and her identity as skadi is returned as the two merge. both goddess and giantess, their return marks the end of fimbulwinter as winter returns to her control.

i do not follow isu lore. for my portrayal, the artefacts of eden are renamed the artefacts of kaos, objects that fell over the earth's surface during the titan and giant wars, ragnarok, etc. the isu were simply the first mortals created, who grew corrupt and deified themselves incorrectly.

zagreus, prince of the underworld, is the son of hades and is the protagonist of the game. he has always had a sense that he doesn't belong in the house of hades. sometime before the start of the game he decides, against his father's will, to escape from the underworld — to reach the top, and find his mother.
he is aided and encouraged in his journey, primarily by his caretaker nyx and his mentor achilles. others outside the house of hades, such as sisyphus, charon, and the olympians sometimes offer their aid as well. however zagreus is met with numerous obstacles throughout the realms of tartarus, asphodel, elysium, and the temple of styx.

based either during or after the events of the game in which zagreus seeks a way out of the underworld to get to the surface, aided by the olympians, thanatos and other friends along the way. after the end of the game he becomes the official head of security in the underworld and continues his ransacking duties for eternity with pleasure.

originally, they were born to a cthonic legacy named zarah asghar in rabat, morocco. the family relocated to venice in 1918 to escape the french occupation. when war broke out through the streets, nox spread the veil over venice to protect the innocent woman, and when her child was safely born, he was blanketed by shadows and stars. historically, venice was suffering aerial bombings at that time in 1918, so when zarah passed away from the crossfires, nightfall saw the goddess take the child away from wars and godly interferences.
named kazheir, he grew up in the mansion of night, and because time works differently in tartarus, kazheir had only aged eighteen years when he first came across demigods like himself: percy jackson, nico di angelo, and thalia grace during the events of the sword of hades.
kazheir bartered with his mother to let them go above ground and stay at the haven for roman demigods. it was camp jupiter’s prestige and unparalleled defences that convinced her to allow him this, on the condition that he joined as probatio. after succeeding, they were assigned to the third cohort during the battle at mount othrys until they made his way to the first cohort after the second demigod war. he was close friends with kenneth vareck before his disappearance.

the darkling is ravka's shadow summoner. due to his and his mother's unique powers during a time of heavy persecution against grisha, he lived in secrecy the darkling, under the name leonid, was one of the first grisha to offer his services to the king yevgeni lantsov. he was then able to establish the little palace and second army.
over time, he became more corrupt and this resulted in the creation of the shadow fold, in the period when he was still known as the black heretic. the advent of the books sees him eventually usurps the throne from the lantsovs and wages war against alina starkova, the sun summoner.

the infernal devices.   jem was eighteen when he first met tessa gray. this led to the war against mortmain, a long battle that saw infernal clockwork machines rise against the shadowhunters.
mortal instruments.   by modern day he is a silent brother until he's cured of yin fen when jace's heavenly fire strikes him. shadowhunter again, he goes on to complete his quest for the lost herondale line with tessa's help.

rise of the guardians: before jack frost became an immortal guardian, he was a teenage human boy 500 years before the current timeline. after saving his sister from drowning at the cost of his own life, the man on the moon transformed jack into a winter spirit, patron of mischief.
the midwinter king: in the years leading up to him becoming a guardian, the midwinter king came into existence as well, successor to old man winter. jack creates blizzards to protect the forests, often guides lost children back home, saves them from death by cold, punishes poachers and thieves. he is akin to morozko, and much more stern.

in hesiod's theogany, nyx sprang from chaos, the first of her primordial siblings. in tartarus hesiod locates the home of nyx; she is also the mother of eros, god of passion and love, and thanatos, god of death, amongst many more chthonic deities including the fates.
at the start of creation nyx occupied a cave or adyton, in which she gives oracles. outside the cave, adrasteia clashes cymbals and beats upon her tympanon, moving the entire universe in an ecstatic dance to the rhythm of nyx's chanting. phanes, god of life – the strange, monstrous, hermaphrodite orphic demiurge – was the first consort of nyx. through time, phanes disintegrated as the giants emerged. nyx took his sceptre and gifted it to zeus.

A BRIEF HISTORY …
jace was born to stephen and céline herondale. however, his parents were killed in action at the hands of valentine morgenstern, who proceeded to thieve jace away and raise him as his foster son. he trained jace to be a brutal, ruthless warrior, and injected him with additional doses of angel blood. eventually however, jace proved to have too soft a heart and was sent to the new york institute.
raised as 'jace wayland', he eventually became alec lightwood's parabatai and met clary fairchild. this changed their worlds, as valentine made his return. with clary, the lightwood siblings work together with friends to stop valentine from collecting the three mortal instruments.
